Coach Fernando

Coach Fernando Pincay is joining the Coach Derek Team with a wealth of soccer experience. Coach Fernando is currently at Westchester High School, ably filling the role of head coach for the boys varsity soccer team. Coach Fernando has 12 years of coaching experience and over 25 years of playing experience, from AYSO to club to high school to military level.

To say that Coach Fernando Knows Soccer is no understatement! His passion for the sport is underscored by his experience in the United States Marine Corp where he learned team unity, respect and leadership. Some highlights during that time were coaching and playing for the 3-time defending championship intramural soccer team for his supply battalion (in a league of 24+ teams). During his stint in the Marines, Coach Fernando was also selected for the 1st Team at Camp Pendleton; only 20 soccer players were selected out of 450 competing. His team won the western region tournament between military bases in both of the years he played.

But it’s not just championships and competition; Coach Fernando combines his athleticism with a warm personality and a sheer love of teaching. He is looking forward to working with younger kids as well as some of the pre-teen and teenage athletes he has helped groom for college-level soccer in his role as a high school coach.
